Two newly graduated medical students went together to apply for a job at a general hospital. The hospital director asked the first student: “If a patient comes in with a bee sting, how would you treat them?”. The student replied: “I would apply methylene blue to the sting and give the patient anti-swelling medication”. The hospital director said: “You may go home, we will notify you if there is any update”.
The hospital director asked the second student the exact same question.
- “Dear Director! With my conscience and responsibility, I will have the patient undergo blood pressure measurement, blood tests, urine tests, stool tests, bone density scans, X-rays, MRI scans, electrocardiogram (ECG), electroencephalogram (EEG), abdominal ultrasound, endoscopy of the rectum, colon, and duodenum, and even a biopsy if necessary, with a treatment regimen lasting at least 1 month…”
The hospital director reached out to shake his hand: “Congratulations, you are now a doctor at our hospital!”
