The Tale of the Mosquito

A male mosquito was casually buzzing back and forth when suddenly, a human clapped their hands together with a loud smack. Dead, flattened instantly.
Filled with pure resentment, the mosquito’s soul could not find peace. Instead, it soared straight up into the blue sky, passing thousands of stars to bow before God, weeping bitterly:
“Dear God…”
“My Lord, I did nothing wrong! Why did humans crush me to death so mercilessly? Please show mercy and grant me reincarnation.”
“Well, did you bite them?” God asked.
“No, sir! Absolutely not! Only those bloodthirsty female mosquitoes swarm together to bite humans. We male mosquitoes are strict vegetarians. On our happiest days, we only gather to sip flower nectar.”
God summoned His team of “Mosquitoology” experts.
After reviewing the case, the Chief Engineer respectfully reported:
“Dear God, according to Your original design from the creation of the world, only adult female mosquitoes bite and suck the blood of humans and warm-blooded animals to nourish their eggs and preserve the species. Female mosquitoes possess a specially designed proboscis that can pierce human and animal skin to extract blood. They need this extra blood as a protein source to produce eggs. Meanwhile, male mosquitoes were designed with a flared, trumpet-like proboscis strictly for sipping night dew on fruits or flower nectar. They absolutely cannot bite anyone.”
“In short, male mosquitoes are total vegetarians.”
Turning back to the male mosquito, God pondered for a moment:
“But tell me, do you ‘poke’ the female mosquitoes?”
As He spoke, God pointed His finger toward the male mosquito’s lower body.
The male mosquito lowered his head, scratched his ear, and confessed:
“Well, Lord… when it comes to that, yes. Quite regularly, in fact.”
After thinking it over for a long while, God delivered His verdict:
“And what about that?!”
“Precisely because you ‘poke’ the female mosquito, she gets pregnant. She then needs protein to nourish your children, which forces her to go out and suck human blood. If you didn’t poke her, she would also just sip dew and nectar, living as a vegetarian just like you… So, your death is not entirely unjust.”
Before God could even finish His sentence, the male mosquito, realizing he had lost the argument, burst into tears.
God’s heart softened:
“Alright, I can bring you back to life on one condition.”
“What condition, my Lord?”
“You will never be allowed to ‘poke’ a female mosquito again. Do you accept?”
The male mosquito bowed his head, thought for a moment, and muttered:
“If that’s the case… I’d rather stay dead. It’s more satisfying!!”
